Someday, they might even make a movie out of Blair Witch.

Let’s just hope this is the start of something big for Bloober Team.

The environments are beautiful, but after the first 30 minutes of gameplay or so, you realize that the game is a linear endless hallway that does not reward exploration. If you want to try to find out more information, you can find the original story here (warning, it is in Polish). Unfortunately, Layers of Fear 2 fails at what it sets out to accomplish, while constantly fumbling along the way. Now all they need to do is make Layers of Fear 3, have the central theme be poetry, then make some art about it, and the holy trinity of reading way too much into shit will be complete. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover. It would certainly be poetic, as that game was about film. Layers of Fear 2 is a strong improvement over the first game, what used to be a copy cat of a cult demo, has found it’s own identity. Layers of Fear is a psychedelic horror that will keep you on-edge for the reminder of the game. It also isn’t clear if the film will be just based on the first Layers of Fear, or include elements of the more recent Layers of Fear 2. So hopefully we get more details soon, because it’s not much to go off of. Digging into HIVEMIND, it seems they just shoot a bunch of hyper-artsy shorts with a RedCam. All I can find are some trademark applications for a film production company called HIVEMIND and a failed merchandising Kickstarter from 2017 that only raised $131. The studio handing the film adaptation is Project Nerd Boss, which I did my best to find some information on. I’m curious to see what the Metacritic average is. The only official word is that it has been in development for at least two years. IGN just gave Layers of Fear 2 a 9, stating that its one of the best games of the generation: Its out next week and nobody is talking about it.
#LAYERS OF FEAR 2 METACRITIC HOW TO#
I just think George gave them the endgame story moments(which some of the side characters, book only prophecies, and book only locations will play into) and they had no idea how to believably get there with the limited time they had, and the characters/locations they are missing in the show, so they made a bastard version of George's ending with some major differences to account for the missing characters and changes the show made, and it just didn't work. Not much is known about the film. I don't really think they were giving surprising story beats a precident over character arc endings the show appeared to be setting up over the last 7 seasons. Beware, for all may not truly be what it seems. Players control a Hollywood actor who heeds the call of an enigmatic director to take on the lead role in a film shot aboard an ocean liner. Im not sure if it's because of the showrunners post episode 3 comments(they may have used the phrase themselves), or if people are just interpreting the plot choices as a grand design to put surprise situations over logical, intriguing and realistic character writing. Layers of Fear 2 is a first-person psychological horror game with an emphasis on exploration and story. Really, "subverts expectations" as a negative phrase started with The Last Jedi(not sure if it was a quote from director Rian Johnson or what), and then people (especially Reddit) just slapped it on GoT season 8 when the plot took surprising but unsatisfying turns(sorta like TlJ). Haha it hurts, this is my overlong view on the situation.
